Anderson TWP Deck Addition

Sitting wonderfully atop the hill in Anderson Township, our clients’ home has a stunning view of the Ohio River right from their own deck. They came to us wishing to capture more of this view inside the home, connect the living areas with the kitchen, and update the aging, neglected finishes throughout the house.
Working with Architects Plus, we started by adding a small addition where a screened porch was located and reworked the bank of windows all along the back wall of the house. With the kitchen now opened up and taking advantage of the view, we installed new cherry cabinetry, granite countertops, and a porcelain tile backsplash. The new hardwood floor is a 5” rift-sawn, white oak that fits the scale of the now larger space. The built-in refrigerator and dishwasher with wood panels keep the wood cabinet finish consistent throughout the kitchen. With a cooktop in the island and double ovens to the side, our clients are ready to entertain their guests. The second “U” shaped island was designed with a raised top surface for guests to gather around while our clients are cooking or prepping. With only a half wall dividing the kitchen from the living spaces, the beautiful river view can be enjoyed from anywhere in the kitchen, dining room, or living room.
New IPE wood decking enhanced the existing deck, making it more functional and attractive. Now it’s easy to enjoy the beautiful view from the inside or outside of the house.
